SSC Combined Hindi Translator (JHT) Mock Test 2027: Free Paper 1 (60+60 Min Timer) and Paper 2 Test Series

Last Updated: 29 October 2026 | Reviewed by Ali Hassan, Senior Content Editor (Government Exams), MockTestCenter.com

Verification Disclaimer: The 2027 mock test series has been designed to match the most recent pattern of the SSC Combined Hindi Translators Paper-I (60+60 minute sectional timer) and Paper-II as announced on ssc.gov.in. Candidates are advised to check the post-code vacancies, the combinations of Master's degree subjects, and the rules regarding the translation diploma against the official SSC notification PDF before applying.

Why I Built This Mock Test Series

My name is Shubham Kumar Sah and I am the founder of MockTestCenter.com.

If you ask any postgraduate who has studied through the Hindi medium about the method they used when taking the SSC JHT Paper-I, you will be told the same thingтАФthat they should complete the 100 General Hindi questions in 35 minutes and then use the other 85 minutes to go through the 100 General English questions carefully.

On the SSC exam, since each section is timed for one hour using the sectional timer, that strategy won't function on the actual day of the exam. Part-I (General Hindi) is set for 60 minutes and Part-II (General English) also has its own fixed 60-minute period. You can't carry over even one saved minute from the Hindi section to the English section. The 60-minute timer for the 100 degree level English questions will surprise you if you practice with past mocks that have a two-hour open timer.

The second issue is the way generic test sites handle this exam. One large portal actually includes on its JHT page study links for 'Blood Relation, Coding-Decoding and General Science', while a second one states that selection is made on the basis of a 'Skill Test' rather than the 200-mark pen-and-paper Translation and Essay paper. Even more problematic is the fact that most of these platforms fail to take into account the weighted merit system in which Paper-I has 50% weightage and Paper-II has 100% weightage.

We have designed the 2027 series specifically for language postgraduates, including an auto-locking Computer-Based Test (CBT) interface lasting exactly 60 plus 60 minutes for the Paper-I September 2026 shift practice exams, a merit calculator with weights of 50% plus 100%, and model translation and essay practice sets in Hindi and English for Paper-II.

The series is mostly free; it wouldn't be reasonable to put a diagnostic test behind a paywall.

Any item included here must pass a single test: whether it will assist an M.A. candidate to score 90 or above in Hindi, to complete 100 English questions within 60 minutes, and to master the official Rajbhasha translation for Paper-II; if it fails to meet this criterion, it will not be published.

URGENT CORRECTION / AMBER CALLOUT BOX

Direct clarification for aspirants applying for the SSC JHT exam:

  • (1) The "open 2-hour timer" misconception in Paper-I: Many coaching websites (including PhysicsWallah and ResultBharat) still display a single 2-hour open timer for Paper-I. The actual rule for the SSC Combined Hindi Translators Paper-I is different. Paper-I (200 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours) now includes a strict 1-hour (60-minute) auto-locking sectional timer for Part-I (General Hindi: 100 questions) and a separate 1-hour (60-minute) auto-locking sectional timer for Part-II (General English: 100 questions). It is no longer possible to complete the Hindi section in 35 minutes and transfer the remaining 25 minutes to the English section.
  • (2) The new "50% Paper-I + 100% Paper-II" final merit formula: The final selection merit is determined by taking 50% of the Paper-I CBT marks and 100% of the Paper-II (Descriptive Translation and Essay) marks. The marks obtained in Paper-II act as the primary official tie-breaker.
  • (3) Copy-paste errors by competitors: Some major websites (such as Testbook's JHT cutoff page) place irrelevant study links like "Blood Relation, Coding-Decoding, and General Science" on a JHT page. Others (like ResultBharat) incorrectly state that selection is based on a "CBT and Skill Test". In reality, the SSC JHT/CHT exam has no Maths, no Reasoning, no General Awareness, and no typing skill test. It consists only of Paper-I (100 Hindi and 100 English multiple-choice questions) and Paper-II (a pen-and-paper Translation and Essay examination).

Preparation for a position as a language officer in the Central Ministries requires a strong command of grammar in both Hindi and English, as well as accurate Rajbhasha administrative translation skills. An effective ssc jht mock test 2027 programme should replicate the exact 60+60 minute sectional timer for the Paper-I CBT and offer structured scoring guidelines for the 200-mark descriptive Paper-II.

This platform offers a comprehensive, cycle-aware practice system that is specifically tailored for M.A. postgraduate students who hold a Translation Diploma (PGDT) and are aiming for Junior Translation Officer (JTO), Junior Hindi Translator (JHT), and Senior Hindi Translator (SHT) positions.

Clearing the Four Major Confusions About the SSC Combined Hindi Translator Exam (2026тАУ27)

Confusion Point Common Myth on Coaching Sites Verified Administrative Reality
Paper-I Exam Clock Assumes a 2-hour open timer that allows time transfer between Hindi and English. The CBT now has strict auto-locking timers: 60 minutes for Hindi and 60 minutes for English.
Final Merit Calculation States that the marks of Paper-I and Paper-II are simply added together. The final merit uses a weighted formula: 50% of Paper-I CBT marks plus 100% of Paper-II Descriptive marks.
Paper-II Format Refers to Paper-II as a "Skill Test" or typing test. Paper-II is a 200-mark pen-and-paper descriptive exam (Translation and Essays). There is no typing test.
Post Levels Considers all JHT/SHT posts as being at the same pay level. Post Codes A, B, and C (JTO/JHT) are at Pay Level-6. Post Code D (Senior Hindi Translator) is at Pay Level-7.

How Our Dual-Paper SSC JHT Mock Simulator Works: Paper-I (CBT) + Paper-II (Descriptive)

Paper-I CBT Simulator тАФ Why the 60-Minute Lock on 100 English Questions Is the #1 Bottleneck

In the past, Hindi-medium candidates raced through the 100 General Hindi questions in 35 minutes and spent 85 minutes on English. Under the new rules, Part-I (General Hindi) locks at 60:00, and Part-II (General English) gets its own strict 60-minute window. You must solve 100 degree-level English questions in exactly 60 minutes (36 seconds per question). Our mock simulator trains you to survive this exact pacing constraint.

Paper-II Descriptive Lab тАФ Structuring 2 Translations (100M) and 2 Essays (100M)

Paper-II is a cumulative 120-minute descriptive test. Section 1 involves translating one passage from Hindi to English (50 Marks) and one from English to Hindi (50 Marks). Section 2 requires writing one essay in Hindi (50 Marks) and one in English (50 Marks). Our Paper-II lab provides practice sets and official-style scoring rubrics.

Negative Marking (-0.25) & Weighted Safe-Guessing Math in SSC JHT Paper-I Mocks

By avoiding 12 blind guesses in the English section you prevent losing 3.00 raw marks; in a situation where the cutoff scores change in decimal increments, retaining those 3.00 marks (which is equivalent to 1.50 weighted marks) ensures that you remain safely above the shortlisting threshold.

Elimination Level in Mock Tests Raw Paper-I Expected Value (EV) 50%-Weighted Merit Expected Value (EV) Strategic Mock Test Recommendation
No Elimination (Blind guess across 4 options) -0.0625 Marks -0.03125 Marks Mathematically negative. Strictly skip blind guessing.
1 Wrong Option Eliminated (3 options remaining) +0.167 Marks +0.083 Marks Favorable expected value. Attempt if you can eliminate one definite distractor.
2 Wrong Options Eliminated (50:50 Choice) +0.375 Marks +0.1875 Marks Highly profitable. Must attempt (e.g., narrowing a Hindi Sandhi or English Preposition down to 2 options).

Minute-by-Minute Pacing Blueprint for the 60 + 60 Minute Paper-I Locks & 120-Minute Paper-II

Paper-I Pacing Table (60 Mins Hindi + 60 Mins English)

Section I: General Hindi (60 minutes locked): You have been given more time than is necessary, so don't hurry. Spend 25 minutes on the 55 grammar and vocabulary questions, 20 minutes on the 30 cloze questions, sentence rearrangement and vakya shuddhi questions, and 10 minutes on the 15 unseen passage questions. In the final 5 minutes, go over the matra and vartani traps to make certain that your net score is 90 or above.

Part-II General English (60 Mins Locked): You must work quickly. You have 36 seconds for each question. Spend 12 minutes on 20 Voice and Narration questions. Spend 16 minutes on 35 Grammar, Error, Improvement, and Fillers. Spend 10 minutes on 15 Vocabulary, Idioms, and Spelling questions. Spend 20 minutes on 15 Cloze and 15 Unseen Passage questions. Save 2 minutes at the end for a quick 50:50 review.

Paper-II 120-Minute Pen-and-Paper Pacing Table

For the translation (100 Marks): 25 minutes for translating from English to Hindi (50 Marks) and 25 minutes for translating from Hindi to English (50 Marks).

Essays (70 minutes): 35 minutes for the Hindi Essay (about 500 words, 50 marks) and 35 minutes for the English Essay (about 500 words, 50 marks).

Incorrect option: B тАФ Reason: "Would" is used in indirect speech, not in a simple passive conversion.
Incorrect option: C тАФ Reason: The auxiliary verb "be" is missing.

How to Analyze Your September 2026 Response Sheet, Normalization Impact & Bilingual Error-Log Template

Calculate your Raw Paper-I Score: Use the formula (Correct x 1) - (Wrong x 0.25) out of 200 based on your September 2026 response sheet.
Convert to Weighted Score: Multiply your raw Paper-I score by 0.50. (For example, a raw score of 140 becomes 70 weighted marks).
Add Paper-II Marks: Add your estimated or awarded Paper-II descriptive marks (out of 200) to get your final merit score out of 300. Remember that multi-shift normalization applies to Paper-I.

10 Score-Killing Mistakes Aspirants Make in New-Pattern SSC JHT Mock Tests (And How to Avoid Them)

1. Rushing Hindi in 35 mins: Speeding through Hindi to save time, only to realise you can't transfer those 25 unused minutes to the English section due to the strict 60-minute lock.
2. Literal translation in Paper-II: Doing word-for-word translations from Hindi to English (or vice versa), which results in awkward syntax and a huge loss of marks on the descriptive rubric.
3. Ignoring the 50%+100% weighted formula: Focusing entirely on Paper-I and neglecting Paper-II, forgetting that the descriptive paper carries double the weight in your final merit calculation.
4. Not practicing 100 degree-level English questions: Treating English like a basic matriculation exam. SSC JHT requires stamina to solve 100 deep-comprehension questions in just 60 minutes.
5. Skipping Sandhi/Samas practice: Treating Hindi grammar lightly and losing crucial scoring opportunities in the exact areas that boost your Paper-I score to 90+.
6. Neglecting to learn administrative Rajbhasha glossary: Using casual language in Paper-II translations instead of the required official government terminology.
7. Leaving Paper-II essays unstructured: Writing 50-mark essays without a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, which leads to poor scoring on the structure rubric.
8. Making blind guesses in English CBT: Guessing wildly when faced with tough vocabulary questions, completely ignoring the mathematical loss from the 0.25 negative marking.
9. Not preparing for CRPF SI physical tests: Applying for the Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) post in CRPF but failing to realise that it requires passing a strict PET/PST unlike civilian ministries.
10. Skipping post-mock error logs: Taking mock tests back-to-back without analysing spelling (Vartani) mistakes or preposition errors, guaranteeing you repeat them on exam day.
