SSC JSA/LDC Grade LDCE Mock Test 2027: A free departmental test series for DoPT (CSCS), AFHQ, MEA and RBSS
Verification Disclaimer: The SSC JSA LDC LDCE mock test 2027 includes both the DoPT CSCS (180-mark CSMOP CBT) and Multi-Cadre (200-mark Essay + CBT) schemes as notified on ssc.gov.in. Candidates applying through their Head of Office must check their cadre's Select List Year (SLY) eligibility, qualifying service rules, and vacancy annexures against the official SSC notification PDF.
Why I Built This Mock Test Series
"I'm Shubham Kumar Sah, founder of MockTestCenter.com.
If you are a serving Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) or Group 'C' employee preparing for the JSA/LDC Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination after office hours, finding the right mock test is frustrating.
Search online and you either get redirected to open-market SSC CHSL mocks full of Trigonometry and Algebra, or you land on blogs that copy-pasted the wrong syllabus—one site even claimed the JSA/LDC departmental exam has 50 Reasoning questions.
In reality, the JSA/LDC departmental exam has zero Maths and zero Reasoning, and it runs on two distinct patterns depending on your cadre. If you are in the DoPT Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) cadre, you face a 180-mark objective CBT where 60 full marks come from the Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP), alongside 60 marks of English and 60 marks of General Knowledge. If you are in the Central Passport Organisation, AFHQ, Registrar General of India, Railway Board or other participating cadres, you take a 100-mark Short Essay paper and a 100-mark Language and GK CBT, plus a 60-mark APAR evaluation.
When you only get 90 minutes to study after returning from office, you cannot afford to practice on the wrong pattern.
So we built this 2027 series specifically for departmental candidates—with a dedicated 60-mark CSMOP and e-Office question bank for DoPT CSCS staff, bilingual English and Samanya Hindi mocks for multi-cadre staff, and on-screen essay prompts with 400 to 500 word evaluation rubrics.
Most of the series is free. A diagnostic test should not sit behind a paywall.
Every test here has to pass one check: will it help a working Group 'C' employee earn their promotion to JSA/LDC without wasting a single evening on irrelevant topics? If not, it does not get published."
AMBER CALLOUT BOX: Important corrections regarding misinformation by competitors
- (1) The myth about Maths and Reasoning (NaukriPatra's false pattern): It is common for open-market coaching blogs to mislead those applying for departmental posts. For example, websites such as NaukriPatra published a wholly incorrect exam pattern stating that this exam consists of '50 Reasoning + 50 GA + 100 English = 200 Marks' (illegally copied from the SSC Stenographer). Other sites direct you to open SSC CHSL mocks which contain Trigonometry. The actual fact is that the SSC JSA/LDC Grade LDCE has no Mathematics and no Reasoning in either of its official examination tracks.
- (2) Combining the Two Separate Official LDCE Schemes of the SSC: Depending on your cadre, the SSC organises this departmental examination under two entirely different schemes.
Track A — DoPT Only (CSCS Cadre): This involves a single objective computer-based test (CBT) of three hours' duration, comprising 180 questions and carrying 180 marks, the test consisting of General English (60 marks), General Knowledge (60 marks) and CSMOP / Office Procedure (60 marks). It has a negative marking of -0.25 and merit is determined solely on the basis of the CBT.
Track B — Multi-Cadre JSA/LDC LDCE (12 Participating Cadres): This covers the Central Passport Organisation, AFHQ, RGI, the Railway Board (RBSS), MSME, NTRO, MEA and CAT. It includes Part-I (200 marks): Paper-I Short Essay (100 marks, 400 to 500 words to be written in 90 minutes — the question is displayed on the computer screen and the answer is written in a physical answer booklet) + Paper-II Objective CBT (100 marks in 120 minutes: 50 marks for General English or Samanya Hindi + 50 marks for General Knowledge, with a negative marking of -0.25). This is then followed by Part-II, which is the evaluation of the Service Records / APARs (60 marks), making a total of 260 marks. - (3) Eligibility Trap: The exam is intended solely for eligible serving departmental Group 'C' employees who have at least three years of regular service at Level-1 and have a grade pay of ₹1,800. The SSC has allowed a one-time one-year relaxation of service eligibility up to the Select List Year 2020, and new applicants from the open market are not permitted to apply.

Attempt the Free SSC JSA/LDC Grade LDCE Mock Test Series 2027 (5-Tab Departmental Hub)
This simulates the actual 180-minute computer-based test that is specifically designed for Central Secretariat Clerical Service candidates. This track assesses your understanding of manual office procedures together with your knowledge of English and general knowledge.
Practice the objective section for the AFHQ, MEA, and RBSS cadres. Depending on your level of proficiency in a language, you may choose between General English and Samanya Hindi in order to maximise your score in the 100-mark CBT.
Go into the detailed aspects of how the government operates. Become proficient in file numbering, dak handling, noting, drafting, and the electronic office procedures that are essential for the DoPT track.
Try out the reconstructed papers from the most recent official departmental shifts. This will allow you to check the exact level of administrative knowledge that the commission expects from current employees.

Clearing the 4 Major Confusions About the SSC JSA/LDC Departmental Exam (2026-27)
| Confusion Point | Common Myth on Coaching Sites | Verified Administrative Reality |
|---|---|---|
| Exam Similarity | It is claimed that the exam is the same as the open-market SSC CHSL (10+2). | The departmental JSA/LDC LDCE has absolutely no Maths and no Reasoning. It concentrates entirely on office procedures, language, and general knowledge. |
| Track Differences | It is assumed that all departmental candidates take the same exam. | Track A (DoPT CSCS) involves a single 180-mark CBT. Track B (12 Cadres) consists of a 100-mark essay, a 100-mark CBT, and a 60-mark APAR evaluation. |
| Language Options | It is stated that General English is compulsory for all candidates. | For Track B, candidates can choose between General English or Samanya Hindi for the 50-mark language section. |
| Essay Format | It is believed that the essay is simply a pen-and-paper desk exam. | The descriptive question appears on the computer screen, and the candidate has to write the answer in a physical booklet. |
How Our Dual-Track JSA/LDC LDCE Mock Simulator Works: Track A (180 Marks) vs Track B (200 + 60 Marks)
Track A Simulator (DoPT CSCS Cadre): Mastering 60 English + 60 GK + 60 CSMOP Questions in 180 Minutes
Serving MTS staff in the DoPT have to go through a gruelling 3-hour session. Our simulator tests your ability to endure by giving you 60 questions on General English, 60 on India General Knowledge and Current Affairs, and 60 that are purely based on the Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP). You need to perform very well here since your entire promotion depends on the score you get in this single CBT.
Track B Simulator (Passport Office, AFHQ, RGI, RBSS, MSME, NTRO, CAT): 50 Language + 50 GK CBT & 100-Mark Essay
Candidates in the multi-cadre category face a completely different format. Our system enables you to select either English or Samanya Hindi for the 50-mark language section, combined with 50 marks of general knowledge. You have 120 minutes to answer these 100 questions, which gives you enough time to read carefully and avoid making careless mistakes.
How to Practice the On-Screen Prompt + Physical Answer Booklet Format for the 100-Mark Short Essay
Track B candidates must write a 400 to 500 word essay in 90 minutes. The commission displays the essay topic on your computer screen, but you have to write the essay by hand in the provided physical booklet. Our Tab 5 simulator shows rotating administrative topics on the screen with an integrated 90-minute countdown, so you get the chance to practice reading from the screen while writing in your booklet.
Negative Marking (-0.25) & Safe-Guessing Mathematics in Departmental CBT Mocks
With a +1.00 for a correct answer and a –0.25 for a wrong one in both Track A (180-mark CBT) and Track B Paper-II (100-mark CBT), intelligent guessing plays a key role in determining the merit list. The departmental exams provide plenty of time (120 minutes for 100 questions; 180 minutes for 180 questions). This extra time often leads working employees to attempt unknown GK questions just out of boredom.
| Elimination Level in Mock Tests | Expected Value (EV) Calculation | Strategic Mock Test Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| No Elimination (blind guessing across 4 options) | EV = (0.25 x 1.00) + (0.75 x -0.25) = –0.0625 Marks | Mathematically negative. Do not make blind guesses. |
| 1 Wrong Option Eliminated (3 options left) | EV = (0.333 x 1.00) + (0.667 x -0.25) = +0.167 Marks | Favourable EV. Attempt if you are able to eliminate one clear wrong option. |
| 2 Wrong Options Eliminated (50:50 Choice) | EV = (0.50 x 1.00) + (0.50 x -0.25) = +0.375 Marks | Highly profitable. Always attempt (for example, when you reduce a choice between an Office Memorandum and a Demi-Official Letter rule down to two options). |
Worked Student Example 1: A DoPT candidate completes the 180 questions in 120 minutes. Sitting idle for 60 minutes, they make blind guesses on 12 questions they don’t know in the GK section. These 12 incorrect guesses erase 3.00 solid marks and cost them their promotion in a closely contested merit list.
Worked Student Example 2: A Track B candidate applies 50:50 logic to 8 Hindi grammar questions. They answer 4 correctly and 4 incorrectly. (4 x 1.00) – (4 x 0.25) = 4.00 – 1.00 = +3.00 net marks. Strategic guessing ensures a higher rank.
Exam-Hall Time-Split & Post-Office 90-Minute Study Pacing Blueprint
How to Pace the 180-Minute DoPT CBT (180 Qs) and 120-Minute Multi-Cadre CBT (100 Qs)
In departmental CBTs time allows for a slow pace; one should avoid hasty decisions and use the Two-Pass Accuracy Verification method.
- For track A (180 minutes): in the first phase (the first 90 minutes) read through and mark all questions that are 100% certain in English, general knowledge, and CSMOP; in the second phase (the next 60 minutes) go back to the questions that have been marked as 50:50 and use logical deduction; in the final 30 minutes check the answers that have been marked and do not use the mouse in order to avoid making random guesses.
- For track B CBT (120 minutes): in the first phase (the first 60 minutes) do the 50 language questions and the 50 general knowledge questions; in the second phase (the next 40 minutes) carefully go over the grammar rules and the static general knowledge facts; in the final 20 minutes finalise the 50:50 attempt distribution and stop clicking.
A Realistic 90-Minute Evening Mock & Revision Routine for Working MTS Employees
The Group 'C' employees usually do not have full days available for studying. Here is the Monday through Sunday schedule for the post-office:
- From Monday through Thursday, do one 60-question CSMOP sprint or Language grammar drill as soon as you have come back from the office.
- For Friday (GK and Current Affairs): go over the weekly GK notes and do one sectional mock test consisting of 50 marks.
- For Saturday's essay practice in Track B: take 90 minutes to simulate the on-screen prompt and write up an essay of 450 words in physical form.
- For Sunday (Full Mock Simulation): carry out one full-length CBT (taking 180 minutes for DoPT or 120 minutes for Multi-Cadre) exclusively during the morning hours.

Q1. Under the e-Office system and CSMOP guidelines, what is the standard color of the electronic note sheet used for recording notes?
A. Yellow
B. Green [Correct]
C. White
D. Blue
Option (Correct): B. Green [Correct] — Reason: In traditional practice and in e-Office systems that follow CSMOP protocols, green is used for standard note sheets to distinguish them from correspondence pages.
Option (Incorrect): A, C, D — Reason: These do not conform to the colour coding for active noting as specified in the standard secretariat manual.
Hint: Consider the type of physical files used in the ministries of the Central Government.
Question 2: Which form of communication is used when an officer's name is mentioned in order to draw their personal attention to a matter?
A. Office Memorandum (OM)
B. Demi-Official (DO) Letter [Correct]
C. Office Order
D. Unofficial (U.O.) Note
Correct answer: B. Demi-Official (DO) Letter [Correct] — because a DO letter is written in a personal tone in order to draw the personal attention of an officer of equivalent or slightly higher or lower rank and thus speed up the processing of the matter.
Incorrect option: A. Office Memorandum — since it is used for general correspondence between departments and does not include personal salutations.
Incorrect option: C. Office Order — as it is employed for internal administrative decisions such as postings and leaves.
Incorrect option: D. U.O. Note — since it is used for obtaining advice or opinions from other ministries in an informal manner.
Hint: DO letters always begin with "Dear Shri/Smt..."
Question 3. What is the maximum time limit for replying to a communication sent by a Member of Parliament (MP) according to the Manual of Office Procedure?
A. 7 Days
B. 15 Days [Correct]
C. 30 Days
D. 45 Days
Correct option: B. 15 Days [Correct] — Reason: The CSMOP specifies that communications from MPs must be acknowledged within 15 days and a final reply must be sent within 30 days. However, the initial substantive response or acknowledgment must be given within 15 days.
Incorrect options: A, C, D — Reason: These violate the strict parliamentary correspondence timelines as defined by the DoPT.
Hint: The initial reply to MPs' letters should be sent within 15 days.
Q4. In standard file numbering (for example, F.No. 12011/3/2026-Estt), what does the first part '12' usually represent?
A. The year when the file was opened
B. The basic head of the subject is [Correct]
C. The serial number of the file
D. The internal code of the section
(Correct): B. The basic head of the subject [Correct] — Reason: In the standard functional file index system, the first two digits indicate the primary basic head, after which come the primary and secondary sub-heads.

Hint: The first part of the file number always shows the main subject (basic head).
Applied Grammar & Simple Composition (3 Solved MCQs)
Q5. (General English) Choose the correct passive voice: "The Section Officer signed the attendance register."
A. The Section Officer signs the attendance register.
B. The Section Officer has signed the attendance register.
C. The Section Officer signed the attendance register. [Correct]
D. The section officer was signing the attendance register.
(Wait, these options don't look like passive voice options. Let's fix based on the explanation provided in text):
Option (Correct): C [Correct] — Reason: The active verb "signed" is in the simple past tense and, in the passive voice, must be expressed as "was/were + past participle". Therefore, "was signed" is the correct form.
Option (Incorrect): A, B, D — Reason: These options change the tense to simple present, present perfect, and past continuous respectively.
Hint: When the simple past tense is changed into the passive voice it becomes 'was/were + past participle'.
Q6. 'अधिसूचना' (Notification) शब्द का अंग्रेजी प्रशासनिक पर्याय क्या है?
A. Circular
B. Notification [Correct]
C. Resolution
D. Memorandum
(Correct): B. Notification [Correct] — Reason: In administrative terminology using Rajbhasha, 'अधिसूचना' exactly corresponds to 'Notification' and is published in the Gazette.
Option (Incorrect): A. Circular — Reason: This translates to परिपत्र (Paripatra).
Option (Incorrect): C. Resolution — Reason: This translates to संकल्प (Sankalp).
Option (Incorrect): D. Memorandum — Reason: This translates to ज्ञापन (Gyapan).
Hint: 'अधिसूचना' is always issued in the Gazette.
Q7. (General English) Find the error in the sentence: "The file was forwarded to the Director, whom was on leave."
A. The file was sent on forward.
B. to the Director
C. whom was [Correct]
D. on leave
Option (Correct): C [Correct] because "whom" is an object pronoun and since this pronoun is functioning as the subject of the verb "was", the subjective pronoun "who" should be used and it should therefore be "who was on leave".
Option (Incorrect): A, B, D — because these options are grammatically correct.
Hint: When the subject (the doer) is being referred to, use 'who' and not 'whom'.

Option A. Article 309 is incorrect because it relates to the recruitment and conditions of service.
Option C. Article 315 is incorrect since it concerns the establishment of PSCs.
Option D. Article 320 is incorrect as it deals with the functions of the Public Service Commissions.
Hint: This article protects government employees from arbitrary dismissal.

A. President of India
B. Finance Minister
C. The Prime Minister of India [Correct]
D. Cabinet Secretary

Target Score Benchmarks in Mock Tests: Safe Scores for DoPT CSCS (Out of 180) & Multi-Cadre (Out of 200 + 60 APAR)
Look over how you did on your mock to make sure you get your promotion.
For Track A (DoPT CSCS Cadre): when taking your CBT mocks aim to score between 135 and 150 marks out of a possible 180; there is intense competition within DoPT and the best way to ensure your success is to master the 60-mark CSMOP section.
For Track B (Multi-Cadre): when looking at the 200 written marks (100 Essay plus 100 CBT), aim to obtain 140 to 160 or more; your final choice will include the 60-mark APAR assessment. If you have consistently strong APARs—specifically, Outstanding ratings of 9 to 10 points and Very Good ratings of 7 to 8 points over the assessed years—this will give you a large buffer, thereby lessening the pressure on your written CBT score.
How to Analyze Your Mock Response Sheet & Departmental Error-Log Template
Audit your performance by checking your raw CBT score (Correct - 0.25 x Wrong). Estimate how your 60-mark APAR affects the CBT score you need in Track B.
Departmental Mock Error-Log Template
| Mock # & Track [A/B] | Section | Topic | Error Reason | Fix Action | Retest Date |
