SSC ASO LDCE Mock Test 2027: Free Assistant Section Officer / Assistant Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination Test Series

Last Updated: 31 October 2026 | Reviewed by Ali Hassan, Senior Content Editor (Government Exams), MockTestCenter.com

Welcome to the definitive SSC ASO LDCE mock test 2027 portal for serving officials. This is the dedicated Assistant Section Officer / Assistant Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination hub for Senior Secretariat Assistants (SSAs) and Upper Division Clerks (UDCs) in the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS, DoPT) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA Cadre Cell). It is specifically for officers with six or more years of approved service who are preparing for their promotion to Pay Level-7 in 2027.

Why I Built This Mock Test Series

"I'm Shubham Kumar Sah, founder of MockTestCenter.com.

When you're serving as an SSA or UDC in the CSS or in the Ministry of External Affairs you're in a very frustrating position with regard to the SSC ASO Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination. Every major test website is all about the open SSC CGL recruitment and has absolutely no interest in the departmental promotion exams at all. In fact, they tend to conflate the SSC ASO LDCE with the UPSC Section Officer LDCE.

If you're juggling an 8 hour ministry workday with exam prep you simply can't afford to be spending your evenings trawling through bare acts without some timed practice. Your promotion to Pay Level 7 is contingent upon two 150 mark Computer Based papers: Paper I on CSMOP, AoBR/ToBR, Parliamentary Procedure, the Constitution and the Flagship Schemes and Paper II on CCS Service Rules, GFR 2017, TA/LTC, RTI Act 2005, POSH Act 2013 and Records Management. There is a 0.25 negative marking in both papers.

We built the 2027 SSC ASO LDCE Mock Test Series completely around the official 300 mark CBE blueprint and have calibrated it directly to the October 2026 official response sheets from the 341 vacancy cycle. Our AI weak area engine tags every error by exact rule number and manual chapter so you can target your gaps in the 30 minute commuter drills.

Most of the series is free. You wouldn't expect a departmental diagnostic test to be behind a paywall.

Every test has to pass that one check: does it match the actual rule depth and statement complexity of a real SSC ASO Grade LDCE paper? If the answer is no then it doesn't get published."

Taking practice seriously means you get full access to comprehensive bilingual 150-mark Paper-I and 150-mark Paper-II Computer Based Examination (CBE) simulators. You will have access to playable October 2026 official response sheet memory papers as well as chapter-wise rule drills. The modules are specifically targeted at CSMOP, AoBR/ToBR, Parliamentary Procedure, CCS Service Rules, GFR 2017, TA/LTC, the RTI Act 2005 and the POSH Act 2013. You will also receive printable solution PDFs and custom AI generated weak area reports to track your progress.

Every single simulator on this platform is precisely calibrated to the latest official Notice No. 4/2/2026-CONF-5 and to the exact October 2026 official answer keys. Preparing for a departmental promotion requires precision and that is exactly what this platform provides. You can use your time effectively during your daily office commute or in the evenings. There is no longer any point in wasting time on open exam syllabus topics.

Amber Callout Box: 4 Departmental Rules Every 2027 SSC ASO LDCE Aspirant Must Lock In

SSC ASO Grade LDCE vs SSC CGL ASO: The open recruitment (SSC CGL) test has Maths, Reasoning, English and GK. The departmental SSC ASO Grade LDCE test has zero Maths or Reasoning. It is 100% focused on Paper-I (150M: CSMOP, AoBR/ToBR, Parliamentary Procedure, Constitution, Schemes, Noting/Drafting) and Paper-II (150M: CCS Rules, Financial Rules, RTI, POSH, Records Management).

SSC ASO Grade LDCE vs UPSC SO LDCE: The SSC ASO Grade is a 400-mark evaluation (300M CBE + 100M APAR) with two 3-hour Objective papers and a -0.25 (25%) negative marking penalty. The UPSC Section Officer LDCE is a 600-mark evaluation (500M Written + 100M APAR) with a -0.33 penalty.

Qualifying Cutoffs & Tie-Breakers: You must individually qualify both Paper-I and Paper-II to have your 100-mark APARs evaluated. In the event of a tie on the 400-mark aggregate, the candidate with the higher marks in Paper-I is the #1 tie-breaker.

Current 2025โ€“26 Cycle Benchmark: Notified on 25 June 2026 (Notice No. 4/2/2026-CONF-5) for 341 ASO/Assistant posts. The CBE was conducted in Delhi NCR and the official tentative answer keys were uploaded in late October 2026. Our 2027 mock series is calibrated directly to those October 2026 official response sheets.

Your ability to master these parliamentary rules will directly impact your #1 tie-breaker standing.
Tab 2 - Full-Length 150-Mark Paper-II CBE Mocks (CCS Leave, Conduct, CCA, Pension/NPS, Financial Rules GFR/TA/LTC, RTI Act, POSH Act, Records Mgmt & Prรฉcis โ€” 3 Hours) (#paper2-150m-mocks)
Mastering the disciplinary and financial rules of the Government of India is the sole focus of this paper. You will be presented with scenarios which require you to apply the precise rules on Leave Travel Concession block years and the General Financial Rules procurement thresholds. You will be required to work through a number of case studies based on actual RTI timelines and actual POSH Internal Committee mandates.

ThePaper-I Simulator (150 Marks, 3 Hours) โ€” Mastering CSMOP, AoBR/ToBR, Parliamentary Procedure, Constitution, Schemes & Noting/Drafting
Tackling the procedural backbone of government operations requires a deep familiarity with the official manuals. The questions will test your ability to correctly route inter-departmental references and to identify the relevant constitutional articles in respect of civil services. Paper-II Simulator (150 Marks, 3 Hours) โ€” Mastering CCS Service Rules, Financial Rules (GFR/TA/LTC), RTI 2005, POSH 2013, Records Management & Prรฉcis

Part-II APAR Evaluation (100 Marks) & How Your CBE Score Compensates for Average APAR Gradings

Your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APAR) will only be evaluated after you have individually cleared both of the written papers. A very high CBE score (objective component) can effectively compensate for an average history of APAR gradings. A high objective score will secure your promotion regardless of the subjective variations in your past service records.

Negative Marking (-0.25 / 25%) & Multi-Statement Rule Elimination Math in Both Papers (Scenario: 4-Option MCQ)

Probability of Correct Guess Marks if Correct Penalty if Wrong Expected Value (EV) Per Question
Blind Guess (4 options remain) 25% (1/4) +1.00 -0.25 0.00
1 option eliminated (3 remain) 33.3% (1/3) +1.00 -0.25 +0.166
2 options eliminated (2 remain) 50% (1/2) +1.00 -0.25 +0.375
Known answer (1 remains) 100% (1/1) +1.00 -0.25 +1.00

Worked Example A: In a 3-statement GFR 2017 or CCS (CCA) question, the elimination of one wrong rule clause is a very effective way to narrow your options. When you go from 4 options to 2 viable options, your Expected Value per question is +0.375. Attempting 10 such questions would give you a positive net gain of nearly 4 marks.

Worked Example B: Avoiding 20 wild guesses across a range of unfamiliar dates and procurement thresholds will actively protect your final score. By simply not attempting these 20 questions you will save yourself +5.00 marks in your 300-mark CBE total as compared to blindly clicking. That five mark preservation is equivalent to overcoming half a year of below average APAR gradings.

3-Hour (180-Minute) Pacing Blueprint for Paper-I & Paper-II: Using Generous Time to Hit 90%+ Accuracy

With 180 minutes to solve 150 marks you have a very generous 72 seconds per question. Time is not your enemy in this assessment. The real damage is done by a hasty misreading of the key statutory words such as "shall" versus "may", "President" versus "Cadre Authority" or "Working Days" versus "Calendar Days".

Phase Time Allocation Strategy for Paper-I & Paper-II Goal
Pass 1: The Confident Sweep Minutes 0 to 90 Answer all 100% known questions. Skip the long multi-statement rule questions. Secure 80-90 solid marks with zero negative marking risk.
Pass 2: Rule Elimination Minutes 90 to 150 Tackle the skipped 4-statement case studies. Eliminate options aggressively. Push your score past 115+ by identifying the single false clause in the complex options.
Final Review & Prรฉcis Minutes 150 to 180 Review all the marked-for-review items. Re-read the "NOT correct" traps very carefully. Finalise your responses and ensure precision in your reading comprehension / prรฉcis.

C) Un-official (U.O.) Note
D) Resolution

Response A (Incorrect) -> Reason: Office Memorandum is strictly for formal intra-ministry and inter-ministry staff orders.
Response B (Correct) -> Reason: Demi-Official (D.O.) Letter is used to draw the personal attention of the addressee to deal with matters quickly or to correspond with non-officials.
Response C (Incorrect) -> Reason: U.O. Note is used to obtain the advice or views of other departments.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Resolution is published in the Gazette of India for policy decisions or for the appointment of committee members.

A) 5 clear days
B) 10 clear days
C) 15 clear days
D) 21 clear days

Response A (Incorrect) -> Reason: 5 clear days is far too short for a standard parliamentary question.
Response B (Correct) -> Reason: 10 clear days is the mandatory minimum notice required to give the Ministries sufficient time to prepare oral answers.
Response C (Incorrect) -> Reason: 15 clear days is in fact the maximum notice period allowed.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: 21 days is the time allowed for certain private member resolutions, not for standard Starred Questions.
Hint: The period in question is exactly between one and two weeks.

A) Article 74
B) Article 309
C) Article 311
D) Article 324

Response A (Incorrect) -> Reason: Article 74 deals with the Council of Ministers assisting and advising the President.
Response B (Incorrect) -> Reason: Article 309 deals with the recruitment and conditions of service and not with dismissal.
Response C (Correct) -> Reason: Article 311 is the constitutional provision which provides the protection against arbitrary dismissal or reduction in rank.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Article 324 deals with the superintendence and control of elections.
Hint: This is the article which forms the constitutional basis of the CCS (CCA) Rules 1965.

Q5: The "Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)" scheme operates under the nodal administration of which Ministry?
A) Ministry of Rural Development
B) Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Response A (Incorrect) -> Reason: The Ministry of Rural Development looks after MGNREGA and PMGSY and not at all related to national health insurance.
Response B (Correct) -> Reason: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is the nodal ministry for Ayushman Bharat.
Response C (Incorrect) -> Reason: The Ministry of Women and Child Development is involved in schemes such as Poshan Abhiyaan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is responsible for schemes for the most vulnerable and not for general health coverage.
Hint: The word "Arogya" (health) is the key to identifying the correct Ministry.

A) 240 days
B) 250 days
C) 300 days
D) 315 days

Response A (Incorrect) -> Reason: 240 days was the limit before the 6th Pay Commission.
Response B (Incorrect) -> Reason: 250 is a random number and has no basis in the rules.
Response C (Correct) -> Reason: The maximum absolute limit for encashment of Earned Leave at the time of superannuation is 300 days.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: A balance of 315 days may exist on 1st January, but encashment is strictly capped at 300 days.
Hint: Think of three centuries of leave days.

Q7: As per Rule 10 of the CCS (CCA) Rules, 1965, an order of suspension shall not be valid after a period of 90 days unless it is extended after review. What is the maximum period for which it can be extended at a time?

D) 180 days

Response C (Incorrect) -> Reason: 150 days is not at all mentioned in the CCS (CCA) Rules.
Response D (Correct) -> Reason: 180 days is the absolute maximum period for which a suspension order can be extended at one time after a review.

Response B (Correct) -> Reason: The current GFR 2017 cap for direct purchase from a single eligible vendor on GeM is up to ₹50,000.
Response C (Incorrect) -> Reason: Any amount above ₹50,000 and up to ₹1,00,000 requires comparison with L-1 vendors.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: ₹5,000 is the cap for petty cash purchases outside of GeM without any quotation.
Hint: Half a lakh is the direct purchase ceiling.

Response B (Incorrect) -> Reason: 60 days is often mistaken for the time allowed for an appeal in certain administrative processes.
Response C (Correct) -> Reason: 90 days is the maximum time allowed under the Act for the IC to complete its inquiry.
Response D (Incorrect) -> Reason: 120 days is more than the statutory maximum and is not permitted under the Act.
Hint: Three calendar months is roughly this amount.

Safe Score Benchmarks out of 300 (CBE) & 400 (With APAR) for CSS (DoPT) & MEA Select Lists (341-Post Benchmark)

Cadre & Category Target CBE Score (out of 300) Expected APAR Range Final Target Merit (out of 400)
CSS (DoPT) - UR 230 - 240+ 85 - 90 315 - 330
CSS (DoPT) - SC/ST 210 - 220+ 80 - 85 290 - 305
MEA Cadre - UR 240 - 250+ 85 - 90 325 - 340
PwBD (all categories) 190 - 200+ 80 - 85 270 - 285

Scoring a massive 225-240+ out of 300 in the written CBE will completely insulate your ranking. A very strong objective score will guarantee you a spot on the select list even if your APAR scores have historically been in the 80-85 range.

6 Common Mistakes that Serving SSAs/UDCs make in the SSC ASO LDCE Mock Tests (and how to fix them)

1) Confusing working days with calendar days in the timelines of the RTI Act 2005, POSH Act 2013 and CCS (CCA) Rules 1965. The statutes are very clear on this and examiners are very much aware of the difference.
2) Relying on practical "section habits" from office work rather than the exact wording of the CSMOP (latest edition) and GFR 2017. The office shortcuts that we use in practice often run counter to the actual manual and can cost you marks.
3) Mixing up the GFR 2017 financial thresholds. A very common mistake is to confuse the direct GeM purchase up to ₹50,000 with the L-1 comparison (above ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000) and the Tender/Bidding (above ₹1,00,000) as well as the Local Purchase Committee limits.
4) Neglecting the Paper-I Flagship Schemes and Constitutional Provisions. Many candidates simply fail to remember that the Paper-I score is the #1 tie breaker when two officers are tied on the final 400 mark aggregate.
5) Misreading the wording of CCS (Conduct) Rules 1964 regarding "prior permission" as opposed to "prior intimation" as opposed to "intimation within one month" for transactions of both movable and immovable property under Rule 18.
6) Rushing through the 3 hour paper in 90 minutes and thereby losing 8-10 marks to the "NOT correct" and "Incorrect statement" traps. Take your time, the clock is very forgiving.
