RRB CCTC 2027 Mock Test: Free CBT-1 & CBT-2 Practice for Commercial cum Ticket Clerk

MANDATORY VERIFICATION & FRESHNESS DISCLAIMER

RRB CCTC is the result of the merger of the various previous designations of Ticket Collector (TC), Enquiry cum Reservation Clerk (ECRC) and Commercial Clerk. The information contained in this guide is taken from the CEN 07/2026 Gazette and the RRB regulations as at October 2026. The specific procedural numbers (700 provisional posts, application cut-off dates etc.) and the Category B-2 medical are all subject to confirmation on the official centralised website (rrbapply.gov.in) and the local notices of the respective RRB prior to applying.

Why This RRB CCTC 2027 Mock Test Series Was Built

I'm Shubham Kumar Sah, founder of MockTestCenter.com and a civil services aspirant. I created this mock test platform after seeing the myriad flaws in the commercial test preparation portals. A lot of the big coaching centres still have the same old question banks and they really confuse the candidate as to whether CCTC, Ticket Collector and ECRC are all different posts.

Aspirants were routinely duped into spending hours on typing tests and all sorts of visual stuff which is completely irrelevant to this cadre.

This platform was created to provide a dependable, cycle-aware practice environment:

  • Every test is specifically designed for the merged CCTC curriculum under CEN 07/2026 and contains no irrelevant testing modules.
  • Medical standards, the promotion structure and the scoring methodology for all the various examinations are all checked off against the official Railway notifications.
  • Full diagnostic mock tests and the analytics that go with them are all free. High quality practice material is therefore available to all candidates at no cost whatsoever.

What is CCTC? Understanding the TC + ECRC + Commercial Clerk merger.

The operational responsibilities of the passenger reservation counters and the transit checking teams were all restructured as part of the railway rationalisation. The old railway recruitment arrangements had had separate titles for the ticketing and passenger checking functions.

Aspirants historically applied for three independent designations:

Commercial Clerk (station counter booking and luggage parcels)
Ticket Collector (TC, platform and carriage ticket verification)
Enquiry cum Reservation Clerk (ECRC, computerised passenger reservation systems)

The various designations were consolidated into a single cadre of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC). CCTC is Post Category 1 in the Non-Technical Popular Categories (Undergraduate) as per CEN 07/2026.

Pay Matrix and Financial Remuneration

CCTC is strictly Pay Level 3 under the 7th CPC.

  • Initial Basic Pay: ₹21,700 per month
  • Grade Pay (Pre-7th CPC Equivalent): Grade Pay ₹2,000 in Pay Band-1 (PB-1: ₹5,200 to ₹20,200)
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TPTA) and operational Travelling Allowance (TA) for travel on trains and for duties at remote stations.

Cadre consolidation enables the DRAs to deploy staff across the booking offices, the computerised passenger reservation centres, the parcel offices and the running of the trains.

CCTC to TTE: The Only Path for 12th Pass Candidates

Aspiring candidates will invariably go out and look for "Railway TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) 12th pass recruitment". Indian Railways never issues any open market recruitment for the entry level with the title of 'Ticket Collector' or 'TTE' on its own.

Entry into the Traveling Ticket Checking Service as an Intermediate (10+2) is by appointment as a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk.

1

Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC)

Level 3 • Basic ₹21,700

Direct entry gateway for 12th-pass candidates handling counter booking, computerized reservations, and platform validation.

2

Senior CCTC / TTE

⇧ Departmental Promotion

Career Trajectory Details

Initial Induction: The recruits start as Commercial cum Ticket Clerks (Pay Level 3, Initial Basic ₹21,700) doing stationary counter booking, parcel documentation or stationary platform ticket checking.
First promotion milestone: on completion of the requisite minimum period of residence (usually 3 to 5 years through normal seniority or through the accelerated Limited Departmental Competitive Examination) the employee is promoted to the post of Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk / Senior TTE. This is Pay Level 5 with an Initial Basic Pay of Rs.29,200.
Senior Operational Tiers: the more experienced staff move into supervisory posts, reaching the level of Chief Ticket Inspector (CTI) or Chief Commercial Supervisor at Pay Level 6 (Initial Basic Pay Rs.35,400).

Access via CEN 07/2026 gives the 12th pass candidate a direct route into the Operational Passenger Administration and Onboard Travelling Ticket streams.

No Typing Test, No CBAT: Why CBT-2 Alone Decides Your Selection

A very common misconception among those looking to get into the railway service is with regard to the supplementary skill tests. For the other NTPC clerical cadre posts (Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist etc.) the candidate would have to be cleared in a qualifying Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST). The same is the case with the operational traffic posts (e.g. Station Master) where the candidate would have to be cleared in the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).

Commercial cum Ticket Clerk recruitment dispenses entirely with both testing layers:

No typing skill test (pre-appointment): CCTC involves public facing transaction software, counter booking terminals and handheld ticketing terminals (HHTs). There is no requirement for a pre-recruitment typing test as part of the selection process under CEN 07/2026.
No Psychometric Aptitude Test (CBAT). The cognitive battery is only applicable to the Train Movement Safety Controllers (Station Masters and Traffic Assistants) and is not applicable to commercial ticketing posts.

Practical Impact on Examination Preparation

Selection on merit is strictly on the basis of performance in the written academic tests. The initial screening is via CBT-1 which brings the applicant pool down to 15 times the sanctioned strength for each regional board.

Once an applicant has been accepted into Stage 2 their 100% final appointment ranking is then determined by their normalised CBT-2 scores. Document verification calls and medicals are issued in strict order of the normalised CBT-2 scores.

Medical Standard: Why CCTC Allows Spectacles (B-2 Standard)

Visual fitness is often the make or break in the railway post. For the operating cadre (the guys who actually move the track, i.e. Assistant Loco Pilots and Station Masters) there are very strict Aye-One (A-1) or Aye-Two (A-2) requirements. If you've had laser surgery or wear spectacles you're automatically out.

Commercial cum Ticket Clerk positions follow the more accommodating Category Bee-Two (B-2) medical fitness code:

Technical Visual Criteria for Medical Category B-2

  • Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4.00 Dioptres).
  • Near vision: Snellen 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or working on transactional computing screens.
  • Colour vision and binocularity: candidates must pass standard tests for binocular vision, field of vision and colour vision.

Wearing of corrective prescription lenses in no way precludes you from becoming a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, provided your corrected vision is 6/9 or 6/12 within 4 Dioptres.

CBT-1 & CBT-2 Exam Pattern for CCTC

Both stages of the test are Computer Based Tests (CBT) and are available in English, Hindi and 13 of the constitutional regional languages.

Comprehensive Pattern Comparison

Test Parameter First Stage CBT (Screening Test) Second Stage CBT (Merit Decider)
Primary Academic Role Preliminary screening filter to shortlist 15x candidates Definitive score used for Document Verification rankings
General Awareness 40 Questions (40 Marks) 50 Questions (50 Marks)
Mathematics 30 Questions (30 Marks) 35 Questions (35 Marks)
General Intelligence & Reasoning 30 Questions (30 Marks) 35 Questions (35 Marks)
Total Question Count 100 Questions 120 Questions
Total Scaled Marks 100 Marks 120 Marks
Allowed Duration 90 Minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD) 90 Minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD)

Negative marking penalty: 1/3rd (0.33) mark deducted per incorrect entry. 1/3rd (0.33) mark deducted per incorrect entry.
Normalization mechanics: raw test marks are converted to percentile based normalised equivalents. As a difficult shift leads to lower aggregate marks, the normalisation process is designed to protect the candidate's percentile from the effect of varying test shift.

Detailed Syllabus Breakdown for CCTC Aspirants

Prep for the exam has to be such that it strikes a balance between mathematical speed, structural reasoning and the ability to recall a broad range of factual information from the various academic subjects.

1. General Awareness (40 Marks in CBT-1, 50 Marks in CBT-2)

General Awareness makes up over 41% of the entire paper.

  • Basic Life & Physical Sciences: NCERT Class 9 and 10 level concepts in Optics, Chemical Reactions, Electric Circuits, Nutrition and Disease Vectors.
  • Indian Polity & Constitution: Fundamental Rights, Articles of the Directive Principles, Union Legislature and Supreme Court judgements.
  • Economic concepts: Consumer Price Index, Wholesale Price Index, RBI policy tools (CRR, SLR, Repo Rate) and Union Budget outlay.
  • Indian Railways GK: Divisional administrative set up, indigenous train development (Vande Bharat variants), freight initiatives and key rail historical milestones.
  • Current National Events: major national transport corridors, scientific satellite launches, civilian awards, international bilateral agreements and national sporting champions.

2. Mathematics (30 marks in CBT-1 / 35 marks in CBT-2)

Maths is all about computational accuracy, ratio and proportion and the practical application of numbers.

  • Arithmetic foundations: BODMAS simplifications, prime factorisations, recurring decimals, fractions and LCM/HCF.
  • Commercial Computations: percentage calculations, profit and loss, successive discount sequences, compound interest and weighted alligations.
  • Motion and Labour Equations: time and work methods, crew rotation, pipe capacities, relative speeds of trains and boat speeds in opposite currents.
  • Coordinate Geometry and Mensuration: linear slope equations, coordinate displacements, area and volume of cylinders, spheres, cones and composite solids.
  • Descriptive statistics: mean, median and mode (and the empirical relationship between them: Mode = 3 x Median - 2 x Mean).

3. General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 marks in CBT-1 / 35 marks in CBT-2)

This section tests spatial awareness, logic and pattern recognition.

  • Categorical syllogisms: standard multi-premise logic puzzles, exclusive scenarios and the modern 'only a few' type of categorical statement.
  • Seating arrangements: circular with mixed facing directions, multi-storey building assignments and parallel queue arrangements.
  • Directional Vectors: multi-turn route navigation problems using the Pythagorean theorem to work out the direct displacement.
  • Relational Encodings: coded blood relations, mathematical equation tweaks and symbol swapping verifications.

Applied Step-by-Step Sample Problems

Quantitative Analysis Drill

Problem: A Commercial cum Ticket Clerk looks at the daily ticket revenue receipts. Booking Office A makes 25% more than Booking Office B. Office B makes 20% less than Booking Office C. The total daily collection from the three offices is ₹1,80,000. What is the individual collection of Booking Office A?

Step by Step Resolution:
Let the collection of Office C be 100x.
Collection of Office B = 100x - (0.20 x 100x) = 80x
Collection of Office A = 80x + (0.25 x 80x) = 80x + 20x = 100x
Total collection = Office A + Office B + Office C
= 100x + 80x + 100x = 280x
280x = 1,80,000
x = 1,80,000 / 280 = 4,500 / 7
Collection of Office A = 100 x (4,500 / 7) = 4,50,000 / 7 = ₹64,285.71

Shortcut Technique:
A : B = 5 : 4 and B : C = 4 : 5
A : B : C = 5 : 4 : 5
Total units = 5 + 4 + 5 = 14
Share of Office A = 5/14 x 1,80,000 = ₹64,285.71

Product Feature: AI-Based Weak Area Recommendation

Smart Performance Coach

Taking practice tests without some form of diagnostic of the failure points results in flatlining. That's where our test engine comes in with an automated diagnostic tracking system.

After every test you submit, the Analytical Engine goes well beyond the simple percentile aggregates and actually deconstructs your performance. It will identify precisely the conceptual weak links you had (e.g. a sign change in coordinate geometry, a wrong inference in a negative syllogism, a time loss across a multi-tier caselet DI set etc).

The platform then generates targeted revision advice which acts as your very own performance coach to ensure that your next attempt is focused on your actual weaknesses rather than your actual strengths.

Personalized Diagnostic Feedback: Post-test sectional analysis se candidate ko exact topic gaps dikhte hain taaki agle mock attempt mein focused revision ke sath score improve ho sake.

Why most CCTC mock tests have factual errors

Lots of the general exam prep portals don't have the very latest documentation for the CCTC post. A look at the various coaching site mock test material reveals a number of the same factual errors:

  • Treat Ticket Collector and CCTC as competing posts: a large number of websites still have "Railway TC Recruitment" and "RRB CCTC Recruitment" as separate application categories. The reality is that the duties of the Ticket Collector have been subsumed into the CCTC cadre.
  • Carrying forward the old typing test requirement: many of the sites still have the typing module as part of the CCTC mock test package. Under CEN 07/2026 the pre-appointment typing test is no longer required for CCTC candidates.
  • Conflating the graduate and undergraduate exam patterns (a lot of the practice papers mix the Level 5 graduate syllabus with the Level 3 undergraduate pattern) is completely misleading as to the actual difficulty of the arithmetic and reasoning papers.
  • Distorting the medical eligibility criteria: a number of sites get this completely wrong and state that the CCTC requires an A-2 medical certificate. This causes a massive amount of anxiety to a lot of people who wear glasses. The CCTC actually requires a B-2 medical certificate which permits the use of corrective spectacles up to 4 Dioptres.
