SSC SSA/UDC LDCE Mock Test 2027: Free Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination Test Series

Last Updated: 1 November 2026 | Reviewed by Ali Hassan, Senior Content Editor (Government Exams), MockTestCenter.com

Welcome to the official SSC SSA UDC LDCE Mock Test 2027 portal for the Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerk Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination. This is a portal for the regularly appointed JSA's and LDC's in Pay Level-2 across the 10 Central Government Ministries, Organisations and the DoPT CSCS cadre. It is for the JSA's and LDC's (Pay Level-2) who are currently in the cadre and are looking to get promoted to SSA/UDC (Pay Level-4) in 2027. All the resources you need to crack this very specific departmental exam are available on this portal.

Why I Built This Mock Test Series

"I'm Shubham Kumar Sah, founder of MockTestCenter.com.

When you're a JSA or LDC preparing for promotion to Pay Level-4 SSA or UDC, you don't usually find a mock test that's actually built for your actual departmental syllabus. Most of the sites you find just give you a random SSC CHSL paper (full of Maths and Reasoning) or they mix up the Multi-Cadre SSA/UDC notice with the DoPT CSCS notice.

In reality, your Paper-I Computer Based Examination has zero Maths and zero Reasoning. It's 100 marks of General Awareness and 100 marks of English Language in 120 minutes. In the Multi-Cadre track, Paper-II is a 100-mark descriptive test on Noting, Drafting, Manual of Office Procedure, Parliamentary Rules, Official Language Hindi orders and the SC/ST Reservation policy. The questions are displayed on your computer screen and you write your answers in a physical answer sheet.

That's why we've built this entire 2027 SSC SSA/UDC LDCE Mock Test Series with separate tracks for the 10 Organisation Multi-Cadre and the DoPT CSCS. All of it is calibrated directly to the 23rd August 2026 papers and the October 2026 official answer keys. Our AI weak area engine will tell you exactly where you're losing marks due to negative marking in the GA section or due to your drafting in Paper-II.

The majority of the series is free. A departmental diagnostic test should not be behind a paywall.

Every test that we publish has to pass one check: does it match the exact 200-mark CBE and 100-mark Office Procedure blueprint of the actual SSC SSA/UDC Grade LDCE? If it doesn't, it doesn't get published.

Clerks using this page have immediate access to the full length 200 mark Paper-I CBE simulators (100 General Awareness, 100 English Language to be attempted in 120 minutes). You also get the fully playable 23rd August 2026 official CBE paper which has been cross checked against the late October 2026 Answer Key. There is also a full suite of Paper-II 100 mark Hybrid Screen to Booklet Descriptive Labs (Noting, Drafting, Manual of Office Procedure, Parliamentary Rules, Official Language Hindi Orders, SC/ST Reservation Policy) and dedicated DoPT CSCS track mocks with printable solution PDFs.

Our job is to separate this Rung-2 JSA/LDC to SSA/UDC promotion exam from the open market. The working clerk will very often spend their precious evening study time on some generic SSC CHSL practice set full of maths or they'll quite innocently go and study the ASO LDCE syllabus. This hub is all about keeping you on the exact Pay Level 4 promotion syllabus so you're not spending your time studying the wrong thing whilst you're still doing your normal ministry work.

Amber Callout Box: 4 Departmental Rules Every 2027 SSC SSA/UDC LDCE Aspirant Must Know

Two completely separate SSC tracks are being run by the Commission at the same time. The Multi-Cadre Track (Notice No. 4/1/2026-CONF-5 for 227 posts) is out of 400 marks (200 marks CBE + 100 marks Descriptive + 100 marks APAR). The DoPT CSCS Track (Notice_of_SSA_Dopt_2026_06_25.pdf) for 65 posts is out of 300 marks (200 marks CBE + 100 marks APAR).

ZERO Maths & ZERO Reasoning in Paper-I CBE: Quite the opposite of the open SSC CHSL exam, the LDCE in this departmental exam has absolutely zero Quantitative Aptitude and absolutely zero General Intelligence. Paper-I is 100 General Awareness and 100 English Language questions (200 marks total) in 2 hours with -0.25 negative marking.

Hybrid Descriptive Mode in Paper-II: In accordance with the SSC's 18th August 2026 Official Notice the Descriptive Paper is in a hybrid mode. The questions will appear on screen and you will be required to write your official notes and drafts in the prescribed space in the physical Answer Booklet.

Calibrated to the 23rd August 2026 exam and the October 2026 official answer keys (both the Multi-Cadre and the DoPT CSCS exams) were conducted on the 23rd August 2026. The official tentative answer keys were released in late October 2026. All of our 2027 mock tests are calibrated directly to this most recent 292 vacancy benchmark cycle.

Tab 1 - Multi-Cadre Paper-I Full-Length 200-Mark CBE Mocks (100 General Awareness + 100 English Language in 120 Minutes) (#paper1-200m-cbe)
Our intensive 2 hour simulator has 100 bilingual General Awareness MCQs and 100 English Language & Comprehension MCQs. We've completely taken out the Reasoning and Maths to make it purely a reading module. It's a module that will get you doing 200 reading based questions in a row. The built in -0.25 negative marking will of course force you to develop the habit of safe guessing.
Tab 2 - DoPT (CSCS Cadre) SSA/UDC LDCE Full-Length 200-Mark CBE Mocks (Notice_of_SSA_Dopt_2026_06_25 Pattern) (#dopt-cscs-mocks)
100% dedicated to JSAs/LDCs of the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS, DoPT). These are the mocks specific to your 300 mark (200 CBE + 100 APAR) track. The DoPT CSCS candidates don't attempt the descriptive paper at all so the only way to get to the top of your cadre's merit list is to be absolutely spot on in this Paper-I CBE mock.
Tab 3 - 23 August 2026 Official CBE Paper (Verified with Oct 2026 Answer Key) & 2023–2024 Cycle PYQ Mocks with PDFs (#aug-2026-official-paper)
This section contains the playable mocks which have been built directly from the late October 2026 official answer keys and candidate response sheets as originally available on ssc.gov.in/home/answer-key. You'll also find the previous 2024 cycle papers (with their final keys released in March 2026) and all of these are accompanied by very detailed, printable PDF solution booklets.
Tab 4 - Paper-II 100-Mark Hybrid Screen-to-Booklet Descriptive Lab: Noting, Drafting, MoP, Parliamentary Rules, Official Hindi & SC/ST Reservation Orders (#paper2-descriptive-lab)
Simulate SSC's 18th August 2026 instruction to the letter: the lab will show the Paper II descriptive prompts on your screen with a 2 hour timer counting down. You write your answers on a physically constrained sheet of paper at your desk. You then get the model answer and a full step marking rubric for all five of the official Paper II modules against which to assess your own work.
Tab 5 - High-Speed 100-Mark GA & 100-Mark English Sectional Sprints (30-Minute Commuter Drills) (#ga-english-sprints)
Working clerks can do these 50 question drills during their daily commute or lunch break. The modules are all about rapid fire Polity, Current Affairs, History and Science and there are also a few very intensive English drills (Active-Passive Voice, Direct-Indirect Narration, Cloze passages, Error Spotting etc).

How Our AI Weak-Area Recommendation Engine Fixes Your Score Across Paper-I & Paper-II
The post-mock AI diagnostic engine is a massive analytical advantage for anyone with a working JSA/LDC. It will tell you precisely which General Awareness sub-pillar (e.g. Economics, Geography) is causing your -0.25 negative drift. It will audit your English performance to determine whether your slips are due to a lack of grammar knowledge or simply a case of reading comprehension fatigue. It will grade your self-reported Paper-II Office Procedure & Noting/Drafting checklist against the strictest of metrics (Format marks, Statutory citation marks, Word limit). And it will give you your 400-Mark (Multi-Cadre) or 300-Mark (DoPT CSCS) Select-List Projection.

Clearing the 4 Big Confusions About the SSC SSA/UDC Grade LDCE (2026–27)

Common Clerk Confusion What Open-Exam Sites Claim Verified Official SSC LDCE Rule Impact on Your 2027 Mock Strategy
Rung-1 vs Rung-2 vs Rung-3 LDCE They mix up the syllabus requirements across all the promotion levels. Rung-1 is MTS to JSA/LDC (Level-2). Rung-2 is JSA/LDC to SSA/UDC (Level-4). Rung-3 is SSA/UDC to ASO (Level-7). You must study strictly for the Rung-2 syllabus. Practising ASO level financial rules or MTS typing tests is completely useless in this context.
Multi-Cadre vs DoPT CSCS Tracks They treat all LDCs as sitting for the exact same examination. Multi-Cadre Track (4/1/2026-CONF-5, 227 posts) has a 100M Descriptive paper. DoPT CSCS Track (65 posts) has NO descriptive paper. DoPT CSCS clerks must therefore devote 100% of their energy to the 200M CBE as that is the entire determinant of their written merit.
Negative Marking Application They assume that the descriptive paper carries negative marking for grammar. Paper-I CBE applies a -0.25 penalty per wrong objective answer. Paper-II Descriptive carries 0.00 negative marking. Paper-II is only evaluated if you clear the Paper-I qualifying gate. So your primary survival tool is objective accuracy.
Age Caps & Centre Rules They claim that standard age relaxation applies across India. The exam is held strictly in Delhi-NCR. The upper age caps vary significantly (e.g. 50 years in Railway Board/CSCS, 45 years in Defence Estates). You must verify your exact cadre recruitment rules regarding age before you dedicate months to mock testing.

SSC SSA/UDC Grade LDCE Exam Pattern 2027 & How Our Dual-Track Simulator Works

Evaluation Stage Track A: Multi-Cadre Exam (4/1/2026-CONF-5) Track B: DoPT CSCS Exam (25 June 2026 Notice) Time Allowed
Part-I, Paper-I 200M CBE (100 GA + 100 English, -0.25 Penalty) 200M CBE (100 GA + 100 English, -0.25 Penalty) 2 Hours (120 Mins)
Part-I, Paper-II 100M Descriptive (Noting, Drafting, Office Proc) NOT APPLICABLE 2 Hours (120 Mins)
Part-II APAR 100M (Evaluated Record of Service) 100M (Evaluated Record of Service) N/A
Post-Written Final Merit 400 Marks Total 300 Marks Total N/A

Paper-I Simulator (200 Marks, 2 Hours Combined) — 100 Marks General Awareness + 100 Marks English Language & Comprehension (-0.25 Penalty)

Navigating 200 objective questions without the mental break of mathematics is a massive stamina test. The 100 General Awareness questions will test your everyday scientific observations, your knowledge of constitutional history and your awareness of current affairs. The 100 English questions will test your ability to rapidly identify grammatical errors, synonym/antonym pairs and the nuances of comprehension passages.

Paper-II Simulator (100 Marks, 2 Hours Descriptive) — Mastering the 5 Official Pillars: Noting & Drafting, Manual of Office Procedure, Parliamentary Rules, Official Hindi Orders & SC/ST Reservation Policy

The Multi-Cadre candidate faces a very technical descriptive paper. You will be assessed on your practical ability to draft Office Memorandums and D.O. Letters in accordance with the Manual of Office Procedure. You will also be tested on your theoretical knowledge of Parliamentary procedure, your strict adherence to the Official Languages Act 1963 and your ability to mechanically apply the SC/ST reservation rosters.

How the Screen-Displayed Question + Physical Booklet Format Works (Per SSC's 18 August 2026 Official Notice)

The SSC has completely revolutionised the delivery of the Paper-II descriptive paper in August 2026. You no longer get a physical question paper. Your prompt will be displayed directly on the screen. You are required to write your answer in a physical Answer Booklet which is handed to you by the invigilator. Any writing outside of the designated question-wise space will result in the immediate disqualification of that answer.

Part-II APAR Evaluation (100 Marks) & Stage-by-Stage Shortlisting Gate (Qualify Paper-I -> Evaluate Paper-II -> Evaluate APAR)

Promotion is subject to a brutal elimination funnel. You must first secure the minimum qualifying marks in the Paper-I CBE. Only then will the SSC manually evaluate your Paper-II Descriptive booklet. Candidates who have successfully cleared both the written stages are then finally shortlisted for the 100-mark APAR evaluation which in turn generates the final select list.

Negative Marking (-0.25) & Safe-Guessing Math in the 200-Mark Paper-I CBE

Scenario (4-Option MCQ) Probability of Correct Guess Marks if Correct Penalty if Wrong Expected Value (EV) Per Question
Blind Guess (4 Options) 25% (1/4) +1.00 -0.25 0.00
1 Option Eliminated (3 Left) 33.3% (1/3) +1.00 -0.25 +0.166
2 Options Eliminated (2 Left) 50% (1/2) +1.00 -0.25 +0.375
Known Answer (1 Left) 100% (1/1) +1.00 -0.25 +1.00

Worked Numerical Example 1: Eliminating 2 options in the tricky 100-question GA block yields a mathematically sound +0.375 marks per question. If a JSA narrows down 20 questions to a 50:50 choice and guesses them all, they statistically gain roughly 10 correct (+10.00) and 10 incorrect (-2.50). This results in a positive net gain of +7.50 marks, significantly padding their Paper-I total.

Worked Numerical Example 2: Conversely, making 28 wild guesses completely destroys your ranking. Statistically, 28 blind guesses result in 7 correct (+7.00) and 21 incorrect (-5.25), barely moving the needle. However, normal test anxiety usually drops this hit rate lower, resulting in a net loss of 4 to 6 marks. Failing the Paper-I cutoff by 2 marks means your Paper-II descriptive booklet is never opened, entirely blocking your promotion. Note that challenging any contested answer key costs a non-refundable ₹50 per question official challenge fee.

2-Hour (120-Minute) Pacing Blueprints for Both Paper-I (200 MCQs) and Paper-II (100-Mark Descriptive)

Table 1: Paper-I CBE Pacing (200 MCQs in 120 Mins)

Time Block Target Section Strategy & Question Count
Minutes 1–38 General Awareness (100 Qs) Speed read. Mark known facts instantly. Flag 50:50 options. Do not linger on unknown dates.
Minutes 39–85 English (70 Non-Passage Qs) Attack Grammar, Vocab, Active-Passive Voice, Narration & Cloze tests rapidly.
Minutes 86–110 English (30 RC & Para-Jumble Qs) Slow down. Read passages methodically to secure these high-accuracy points.
Minutes 111–120 50:50 Review Pass Revisit flagged objective questions. Apply safe-guessing elimination math.

Table 2: Paper-II Descriptive Pacing (100 Marks in 120 Mins) — Multi-Cadre Only

Time Block Target Section Execution Focus

Minutes 76–110 Hindi Orders & SC/ST Rules (30 Marks) Detail Region A/B/C classifications and explain reservation roster mechanics clearly.
Minutes 111–120 Space-Limit Verification Verify no writing crosses outside the designated physical booklet boundaries.

Which SSC SSA/UDC LDCE 2027 Mock Track Fits Your Parent Cadre? (Cadre-Wise Selector Matrix)

Serving JSA / LDC Category Cadre Focus Mock Track Strategy Target Score Buffer
Group 1: Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) DoPT CSCS (65 Posts Benchmark) Start with Tab 2 (DoPT CSCS 200M CBE) + Tab 3 (August 2026 Response-Sheet Mocks). Maximize Paper-I CBE; no descriptive test exists for you. Target 155+/200.
Group 2: AFHQ, Railway Board, Election Comm., CWCM Multi-Cadre (227 Posts Benchmark) Start with Tab 1 (200M CBE) + Tab 4 (Paper-II MoP & Parliamentary Descriptive Lab). Balance CBE and Descriptive. Target 145+/200 (CBE) + 70+/100 (Desc).
Group 3: MoEF&CC, Defence Estates, LBSNA Multi-Cadre (Attached Offices) Start with Tab 3 (23 Aug 2026 Official Diagnostic) + Tab 4 (Cadre-applicable Manual of Office Procedure). Master the specific noting and drafting nuances of your attached office.

Common Mistakes Serving JSAs/LDCs Make in SSC SSA/UDC LDCE Mock Tests (And How to Avoid Them)

1. Studying Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning from open SSC CHSL books. Your departmental Paper-I CBE is 100 GA + 100 English only (zero Maths and zero Reasoning). Stop wasting time on geometry and puzzles.
2. Confusing the Multi-Cadre SSA/UDC LDCE (Notice 4/1/2026-CONF-5) with the DoPT CSCS SSA/UDC LDCE (Notice_of_SSA_Dopt_2026_06_25.pdf) or the lower Rung-1 JSA/LDC LDCE. Know exactly which track you are in.
3. Writing your Paper-II Descriptive answers outside the designated question-wise space in the physical Answer Booklet while you are reading the questions off the computer screen. This is a direct contravention of the 18 August 2026 SSC instruction and will result in zero marks for any such misplaced answers.
4. Ignoring the Handbook of Orders on the Use of Hindi for Official Purposes (Region A, B, C correspondence targets, Section 3(3) bilingual documents) and the SC/ST Reservation Policy Orders. These two modules are routinely worth 30 - 35% of the Paper-II Descriptive marks.
5. Making 30+ blind guesses in the 100 question General Awareness section. If you fail the Paper-I qualifying gate then your Paper-II Descriptive booklet will not be evaluated by the examiner at all.
6. Missing the mandatory Head of Department (HoD) "Through Proper Channel" hard copy forwarding deadline to the SSC Northern Region office (Block No. 12, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003) after you have completed the online form.

Option B (Incorrect) -> Reason: Article 360 is the Financial Emergency article.
Option C (Correct) -> Reason: Article 368 contains the provisions and procedure for amendment of the Constitution by Parliament.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Article 370 did confer special status on Jammu and Kashmir.
Hint: Think of the highest procedural number of the standard emergency/amendment articles.

A) Rural road connectivity
B) Universal access to banking facilities [Correct]

C) Lahore
D) Bombay [Correct]

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: Calcutta had hosted a number of earlier sessions but not the session of August 1942 where the resolution was passed.
Option B (Incorrect) -> Reason: Madras was important historically but not the location of this particular ratification.
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: Lahore is renowned for the 1929 Purna Swaraj resolution.
Option D (Correct) -> Reason: The resolution was passed at the Gowalia Tank Maidan in Bombay on 8th August 1942.
Hint: The movement started in the financial capital of British India.

Q4: In normal geographical terms what is the cause of the 'Midnight Sun' phenomenon which occurs in the regions north of the Arctic Circle?
A) The elliptical orbit of the Earth
B) The tilt of the Earth's axis [Correct]
C) The reflection of moonlight on polar ice
D) Atmospheric refraction of distant city lights

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: The shape of the orbit has an effect on the length of the seasons, it has no effect on the specific phenomenon of continuous daylight.
Option B (Correct) -> Reason: The 23.5 degree axial tilt means that during their summer the polar regions are continuously facing the sun and thus have the Midnight Sun.
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: Moonlight can't do the job of the real sun in terms of brightness and duration.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Refraction has very little to do with twilight, it's not what causes the continuous day.
Hint: The planet tilts towards the light source for months at a time.

Paper-I Section 2 — English Language & Comprehension (100 Marks: Voice, Narration, Grammar, Vocab & Cloze): 4 Solved MCQs

Q5: Select the correct passive voice form: "The Section Officer has approved the final draft."
A) The final draft is approved by the Section Officer.
B) The final draft was approved by the Section Officer.
C) The final draft has been approved by the Section Officer. [Correct]
D) The final draft had been approved by the Section Officer.

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: Changes the tense to simple present.
Option B (Incorrect) -> Reason: Changes the tense to simple past.
Option C (Correct) -> Reason: "has approved" in the present perfect is correctly changed to "has been approved" in the passive.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Changes the tense to past perfect.
Hint: Keep the exact same tense (present perfect) while adding the 'been' auxiliary.

Q6: Select the correct indirect speech form: The Director said, "I am reviewing the pending files today."
A) The Director said he was going through the files that were pending today.
B) The Director stated that he was going through the files that day.
C) The Director said he was going through the files that day. [Correct]
D) The Director said I was going through the files that were pending today.

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: fails to change the time marker 'today' to 'that day'.
Option B (Incorrect) -> Reason: fails to backshift the present continuous 'am reviewing' to past continuous 'was reviewing'.
Option C (Correct) -> Reason: corrects the pronoun to "he", backshifts the verb to "was reviewing" and changes "today" to "that day".
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Fails to change the 'I' from the first person.
Hint: Present continuous becomes past continuous and present time expressions become their past equivalents.

Q7: Identify the segment containing the error: "Each of the candidates have to submit their departmental permission letter by Friday."
A) Each of the candidates
B) have to submit [Correct]
C) their departmental permission letter
D) by Friday

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: The distributive pronoun is correct.
Option B (Correct) -> Reason: The error is here. "Each" is a singular subject so the verb has to be "has to submit", not "have to submit".
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: The noun phrase is perfectly formed.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: The prepositional deadline is grammatically correct.
Hint: 'Each one' will always take a singular verb irrespective of the plural noun that follows 'of the'.

Q8: Select the most appropriate vocabulary word to fill the blank: The Ministry issued a strict __________ to all attached offices to curb unauthorised expenditure.
A) allowance
B) directive [Correct]
C) suggestion
D) hypothesis

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: An allowance is permission to spend (or funds to spend), it doesn't in any way limit expenditure.
Option B (Correct) -> Reason: A 'directive' is an official instruction or order from a central authority, very much the right term in this administrative context.
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: The suggestion is far too weak to be described as 'strict' in a financial compliance context.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: A hypothesis is a scientific assumption, not an administrative order.
Hint: Look for the word which is the mandatory official command.

Paper-II Core Concepts — Office Procedure, Parliamentary Conduct, Official Hindi Orders & SC/ST Reservation Policy: 2 Solved Objective Style Concept Checkers + Model Descriptive Framework

Q9: Under the Official Language Rules, 1976, communications from a Central Government office to a State or Union Territory in Region 'A' (e.g. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar) must be sent in which language?
A) English only
B) Hindi only [Correct]
C) Bilingual (Hindi and English)
D) The regional language of the respective state

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: Sending English only correspondence to Region A breaches the basic principle of the Official Languages Regulations.
Option B (Correct) -> Reason: Communications to Region 'A' are normally to be sent in Hindi. If they are sent in English then a Hindi translation must be provided.
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: Bilingualism is a requirement for all Section 3(3) documents (Resolutions, Rules, Notifications) but routine correspondence to Region A is to be in Hindi.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Regional languages are not used for formal Central to State communication under these particular rules.
Hint: The core Hindi speaking belt as per the rules is UP, Bihar and MP.

Q10: As per the Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP) what format is to be used when a communication is addressed to a non-official or an officer of equivalent rank to draw his personal attention to a matter?
A) Office Memorandum
B) Demi-Official (D.O.) Letter [Correct]
C) Inter-Departmental (ID) Note
D) Notification

Option A (Incorrect) -> Reason: An O.M. is extremely formal and is used for staff instructions or for correspondence between the various ministries. It is not the format you'd use for a personal note of attention.
Option B (Correct) -> Reason: A Demi-Official (D.O.) letter is written in the first person (typically commencing "My dear...") in order to get round the formality and to ensure that it gets the personal attention it deserves.
Option C (Incorrect) -> Reason: ID Notes are used to get advice from other ministries internally.
Option D (Incorrect) -> Reason: Notifications are published in the Gazette of India for statutory rules.
Hint: Look for the specific semi-formal letter starting with "My dear...".

Model Descriptive Framework for Noting & Drafting (5 Step Format Checklist)
